You've narrowed it down to two of the best-known online mattresses, and they suit very different sleepers. The Nectar Classic is an all-foam bed with a thick gel memory foam layer that hugs your shoulders and hips. The Casper Original Hybrid adds pocketed coils under three zones of foam, so it sleeps cooler, feels bouncier and is easier to move on. This Nectar vs Casper comparison lines up our test results side by side so you can see which one fits the way you sleep.

The short version: the Nectar wins on pressure relief, motion isolation and value, with a 365-night trial and lifetime warranty. The Casper wins on cooling, edge support and responsiveness, which makes it the better pick for combination sleepers and anyone who runs warm.

Quick Verdict

Nectar vs Casper comes down to heat, how much you move, and budget.

Choose the Nectar Classic if you:

  • sleep on your side and want deep, cradling pressure relief
  • share the bed with a restless partner and want the stillest surface
  • want the better value — it costs roughly $400–$500 less
  • want a 365-night trial and a lifetime warranty

Choose the Casper Original Hybrid if you:

  • sleep warm — it built up far less heat in our test
  • change position during the night and want a bed that's easy to move on
  • want zoned support for your lower back
  • sit on the edge of the bed and want firmer edges

Quick Verdict: Nectar wins for side sleepers, couples and budgets; Casper wins for combination sleepers, warm sleepers and edge support.

How Are They Built? Foam vs Hybrid

The Nectar is all memory foam; the Casper puts zoned foam over pocketed coils. That difference explains almost every result below.

The Nectar Classic is a 12-inch all-foam bed: a quilted Tencel cover, 3 inches of gel memory foam, a transition layer and a high-density foam base. There are no springs, so it absorbs movement and contours closely.

The Casper Original Hybrid is 11 inches tall across four layers. Its foam is split into three zones — softer under the shoulders, firmer under the lower back and hips — over a pocketed coil base that adds airflow, bounce and a supportive edge.

Which Has Better Pressure Relief?

The Nectar Classic. It scored 9.5/10 for pressure relief against the Casper's 8.8. At 185 lbs on his side, our tester sank about 1.8 inches into the Nectar's gel foam — enough to take weight off the shoulder and hip without letting the waist drop out of line.

The Casper's strength is zoning. Its pressure map read 0.34 psi at the shoulder, 0.29 psi at the lower back and 0.41 psi at the hip, and it scored 9.0/10 for spinal alignment against the Nectar's 8.5. That firmer lumbar zone is why our back sleepers with morning stiffness liked it.

The Nectar spreads pressure through deep foam; the Casper's zones soften the shoulder and firm up the lower back.

Winner: Nectar for side sleepers; Casper for back and combination sleepers.

Which Sleeps Cooler?

The Casper Original Hybrid, clearly. In the same two-hour test at 70°F, its surface rose just 2.9°F, against 5.2°F for the Nectar. Air moves through the Casper's coils; memory foam holds more of your body heat.

To be fair to the Nectar, it runs 27% cooler than plain memory foam, thanks to its gel and Tencel cover. But if you often wake up warm, the Casper is the better bet.

Bar chart of surface heat rise after two hours: Casper Original Hybrid 2.9°F, Nectar Classic 5.2°F, plain memory foam 7.1°F
The Casper's coils kept its surface cooler; the Nectar beat plain memory foam but ran warmer than the hybrid.

Winner: Casper Original Hybrid. See our best cooling mattress guide if heat is your main problem.

Which Is Better for Couples?

It depends on what bothers you more: movement or edges.

The Casper's coil edge holds up when you sit; the Nectar's foam edge sinks more.
  • Motion: the Nectar is one of the quietest beds we've tested. Only 0.12 mm of movement reached the other side in our drop test, and it scored 9.6/10. The Casper's coils pass on more motion (8.1/10) — noticeable, but comfortable for most couples.
  • Edges: the Casper's coil perimeter compressed just 1.4 inches in our edge test and scored 8.3/10. The Nectar's foam compressed 3.8 inches under a seated tester (5.5/10), so the outer few inches feel less stable.

Winner: Nectar if a restless partner wakes you; Casper if you both sleep near the edges or sit on the side of the bed. See our best mattress for couples.

Which Is Easier to Move On?

The Casper Original Hybrid. Its coils spring back quickly, so rolling over takes little effort, which is why it's the best bed we've tested for combination sleepers.

The Nectar's slow memory foam is part of what makes it so still and so cradling, but it also makes turning over harder work. Combination sleepers and anyone who dislikes a "stuck in" feeling will notice the difference.

Winner: Casper Original Hybrid.

Setup, Smell and Care

A tie. Both scored 8.0/10 for ease of setup. The Nectar arrives rolled and took 58 hours to reach full height in our test, though you can sleep on it sooner; its mild new-foam smell faded within 24 hours with a window open. The Casper also ships in a box and was straightforward to unbox and position.

Both work on a platform bed, slatted frame or adjustable base.

Winner: Tie.

Price, Trial and Warranty: Which Is Better Value?

The Nectar Classic, by a wide margin. A Queen Nectar typically costs about $400–$500 less than a Queen Casper Original Hybrid, and it scored 9.5/10 for value against the Casper's 7.2.

Its buyer protection is stronger too: a 365-night trial and a lifetime warranty, against the Casper's 100-night trial and 10-year warranty. If you're unsure which feel you'll like, the longer trial lowers your risk.

Winner: Nectar Classic.
